Ruby Bailey is a multimedia artist exploring technofetishism through digital aesthetics.
Through film, digital media, sculpture, and installation, she examines identity, interconnectedness, and the {gaussian} blurred boundaries between the physical and virtual. Fascinated by the techno-body, Bailey constructs immersive landscapes—both in meetspace and cyberspace—where AI-generated visuals, hidden camera footage of raves, and speculative collages of her drawings and photographs collide, revealing the tension between visibility and invisibility.
Her films Loobtopia and Endlessity (released on Metalabel) apply AI to lived experience, expanding the relationship between machine learning and memory. Her 2025 series Ethereality, developed during a residency at NIROX Sculpture Park and exhibited at Circa Gallery (Everard Read, Cape Town), materializes digital abstraction through metallic sculptures, analogue interactive computers of steel and magnet, and encrypted nude prints that explore self-representation and concealment.
Bailey’s work has been exhibited with Carpenters Workshop Gallery, curated by Michele Lamy, at ICD Brookfield Place (Dubai), as well as international venues in London, Berlin, New York, and Hong Kong.
