R U A ROBOT?? reframes the Captcha test as a social interface: a grid that trains us to read faces like a machine. The work layers portraits of IRL friends and strangers (collected across nights out over the years) with Sims NPCs and AI “imposters,” collapsing casual documentation into a sorting mechanism. In PRIORI ACUTE OT SANS, the grid itself spells “R U A ROBOT??” - another layer of reading that turns recognition into a message. Rather than asking only whether an image is human, the work questions how humanness is performed, detected, and believed through contemporary visual cues.
